Your Website Administration

When you are setting up a website, there are two initial costs right out of the gate:  registering your domain name and securing your web hosting.

We have already definied a domain name in step #1.  It is the address the internet uses to locate your website.  A “web host” is a company that has a server and is paid to store the material included on your website so that the public may access it via the internet.

There are many web hosting companies available.  Web hosting through Katetian Moon Designs costs $20 per month for the average site with average monthly traffic.  “Traffic” is defined as the number of “hits” your site gets in a month.  “Bandwidth” is another term that refers to how much “traffic” is moving through your website.   If Katetian Moon is designing your website, it is much easier and faster to have us also handle your web hosting since we will not have to go through an authorization process to be able to access your account on another web host.

If you are looking for a remodeling of a current website that you already have, you will have to provide your user name and password so that we may access the account/website to remake your site.

You may purchase as many months of web hosting services in advance as you would like.  Web host fees are billed on the 20th of each month for the following month and must be paid by the 1st of each month.  On the 7th of each month, if payment has not been received, the account will be suspended (the website will not be active) until payment is made.

At the same time that we are establishing your web hosting account and designing your website, we will purchase your chosen domain name on your behalf.  This is offered to you “at cost.”  Domain names are registered by the year and cost approximately $10-15 per year.  (.com is $10 per year; .org is $15 per year, etc).  You may purchase as many years as you like at one time.  If you ask for more than one domain name (for instance, you want bemyfriend.com AND bemyfriend.net), the cost applies to each domain name.

The cost of the domain name purchase(s) and a minimum of one month of web hosting (unless you already have a web host) must be paid in advance of the website creation.

You will be invoiced when your domain name is about to expire.  If I am unable to contact you at that time, the domain name will be allowed to expire.  This means not only that your website will no longer work, but someone else can purchase your domain name out from under you.  Make sure you keep Katetian Moon Designs supplied with current contact information.

Who will be your “webmaster?”  A webmaster is the person who does necessary updates and maintenance to your website.  Most of the websites designed by Katetian Moon have an interface called WordPress that allows clients to update and manage their own websites.  A tutorial is sent to the client with detailed instructions on how to use WordPress to manage their sites.

If you do not wish to do your own website management, webmaster services are offered by Katetian Moon at a cost of $25 per hour.   The hours spent managing the clients website are carefully detailed over a month’s time and an invoice is sent to the client on the first of every month.  The final number of hours invested in the client’s website for that month is rounded up to the next hour.  So if I spend 17 hours and 27 minutes on a client’s website, they are charged for 18 hours for that month.  Payment is due by the 15th of each month.  No webmaster services will be rendered on an account that is past due.
